Chaudhry Abdul Ghafur was one of the very senior advertising professional of the country. He was distinguished for having established advertising agency of Pakistan namely Pakistan’ in 1947 and in 1950 coalesced with ‘International’ to form united Advertisers. When Mr. Wajid Mahmood retired from Adarts, and sold the shares of Adarts, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafur acquired the majority shares of Adarts.
Chaudhry Sahib enjoyed great respect, support and admiration amongst his professional colleagues and as such, he was elected Chairman of Pakistan Adverting Association for two terms (1980-81, 1981-82). During his tenure as Chairman, he led a delegation of Advertising Professionals (PAA) and Media to the 13th Asia Advertising congress (AD-GROW) held in New Delhi in 1982.
In addition he was broad caster, telecaster and contributor to newspapers, magazines and periodicals.
Hassan Nawab Effendi
Mr. Hassan Nawab Effendi, was born in Agra and educated at Allahabad. Obtained Government Diploma in commercial art from National College of Arts, Lahore. 1949. Worked for 2 years as a Senior Artist in D.J.Keymer & Co. Proceeded to U.S.A. in 1952 on Central Government’s scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Education. Studied for two years at the Arts Institute of Chicago and later on joined Indiana University, Bloomington and received Master’s degree in February, 1957 as an Art Director incharge of the studio. Worked in this capacity till 1963. From January 1964, he has been transferred as Accounts Executive and later joined J. Walter Thompson and rose to the position of creative director and manger for Pakistan till 1971.
Mr. Effendi established Paragon Advertising (Pvt) Ltd., which rose to highest of great success.
Jamshed Qureshi
Jamshed Qureshi has spearheaded Bond since its inception in 1965 to today, where it stands as one of Pakistan’s leading creative agencies.
His commitment and standing in Pakistan’s advertising industry is exemplified by his role as Chairman Pakistan Advertising Association from 1993 – 94, and again from 2000 – 2001; Secretary General and Treasurer, Pakistan Advertising Association.
He has been a recipient of the Advertising Distinguished Individual Award for 2 consecutive years, and the Advertising Pioneer Award. He has been a speaker at AdAsia in Bali and Manila. He has also served as Council Member & Chairman of AFAA (Asian Federation of Advertising Association).
Akbar Ali
A very familiar name in the advertising field, Akbar Ali has an experience of five decades to his credit. He has reached the highest rung the hard way. For his tireless efforts, sheer hard work and unflinching faith in himself, coupled with acute dedication and determination, he is known as role model of a self-made hardcore professional-always on the move and abreast with the latest advertising trends and techniques. He became the member of the Executive Committee of Pakistan Advertising Association (PAA) in 1991-92 and Chairman Zone in 1992-93, 1993-94 and was unanimously elected as Chairman, PAA in 1994.
He is a member of Executive Committee of Medical Aid Foundation (MAP). He was also the President of Public Relations’ Society of Pakistan (PRSP), President, Pakistan Advertising Educational Society, and Chairman of FPCCI’s Standing Committee on Press and Print Media 2008.

Jamil Siddiqi
Jamil Siddiqi, Managing Director, Marketing and Advertising (Pvt) Ltd., Karachi, started his career as the Advertising Manager of “Al-Helal” in 1941 in Bombay. In the subsequent years he was appointed as the Sole representative of a weekly called “The Star” sponsored by the Muslim League and supervised by the late Liaquat Ali Khan. After as the Advertisement Manager of “Dawn,” Karachi. After four years of work in this capacity he started his own monthly magazine “The Citizen.” The variety of advertising and journalistic experiences brought him the offer of the General Manager of Stronachs Advertising (Pvt) Ltd., Karachi. With zeal, industriousness and perseverance, he infused a new life into Stronachs, which he ultimately took over by changing its name to Marketing and Advertising (Pvt) Ltd., as its Managing Director.
M. Mushtaq
Mohammed Mushtaq, Managing Director, National Advertisers (Pvt) Ltd., Karachi, was born on June 1, 1920, at Ludhiana (East Punjab), India . Although he hails from a business family of Carpet merchants, he had little enthusiasm for his ancestral profession. His urge for a modern and interesting career drove him to advertising. He is distinguished for having established the first advertising agency of Pakistan in September, 1947, which is considered among the leading agencies of the country. He is also the Managing Partner of the Church Mission Press, Karachi and Proprietor of NAPEX Outdoor Advertising Service, Karachi.
M. Mushtaq is one of the very senior advertising professional of the country. Headed National Advertising (Pvt) Ltd., which was made a private Limited Company in1952. He has rich experience of advertising of consumer products, pharmaceuticals, hotel industry, airlines, automobiles, cosmetics, saving schemes, industrial machines etc. etc. He has the distinction of servicing account of Saudi Arabian Airlines in Pakistan for over 20 years and supervising the same in India, Sri Lanka, Iran and Bangladesh for long time.
Mushtaq was elected as Chairman, Pakistan Advertising Association for the term 1988-89 during which period PAA organized the 16th AdAsia’89 Pakistan in Lahore that has put Pakistan on the advertising Map of the world.
Mukhtar Ahmed Azmi
Born at Azamgarh India on 1st January 1934. Chief Executive of M.A.Z Advertising. entered the advertising trade in mid-February 1950 completed over 62 years (February 2005) dedicated service in advertising profession.
Started career at D. J. Keymer, having served with them for 18 years and with J. Walter Thompson for 6 years . Worked with Fourays Limited as one of its founder Directors in 1972. Later in 1974 decided to work independently and established M.A.Z Advertising.
Unanimously elected Chairman Finance Committee AdAsia’89 held in Lahore, Chairman PAA 1995-96 and Secretary General of Pakistan Advertising Association for four terms. He also had the portfolio of Finance Secretary of PAA for (8) terms.
Participated in various AdAsia Congress as delegate held in Soul (1984) Bangkok (1986) Lahore (1989) Kuala Lumpur (1990) Bali Indonesia (1995) and Singapore (2005).
Awarded PAA Pioneer Award in 1979 and also PAA Distinguished Individual Contribution Award 1985 in recognition and appreciation of his consistent, self less, dedicated devotion of time and efforts for the development of advertising Pakistan .
A popular personality amongst print and electronic media. His professional colleagues hold him in high esteem.
He was killed sectarian attack on 6-06-2012.
Sultan Mahmud
Hailing from Lahore and born in 1921, he graduated in Sciences from the Punjab University, served in the Central Finance Ministry for some time and then entered the advertising profession, starting an agency (International) in 1950, which later coalesced with another agency (Paktisers) to form united advertisers.
He was Chairman of the Pakistan Advertising Association for three years, 1982-83, 1983-84 and 1990-91. He propounded the idea of setting up a training institute in advertising and allied arts and started the campaign for collection of funds for the ambitious project of PAA. He led the Pakistan delegation to 14th AdAsia in Seoul where he championed Pakistan’s bid for hosting the 16th AdAsia. He also attended the 13th and 15th sessions held respectively at Delhi and Bangkok.
Sultan Mahmud is one of the architects of Advertising profession in Pakistan, he is a man of challenge, who believes that creativity can have no end.
Widely respected for his suave manners and intellectual integrity, he is looked upon as the doyen of Advertising in Pakistan.
The Government of Pakistan conferred upon S.H. Hashmi, SITARA-I-IMTIAZ, one of the highest civilian award of the country on the occasion of Independence Day of Pakistan. The award takes into consideration not only his pioneering role in the field of advertising but also his outstanding lifelong service to the nation in the fields as diverse as health, education, community welfare, political consciousness and the role of women in society.
In the outgoing years, S. H. Hahsmi has won several awards and has also been conferred with a M. Phill degree. The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) acknowledged the meritorious service of Mr. Hashmi when it awarded him the (Akhbar Dost) Award. The awards was presented by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shaukat Aziz.
It is pertinent to mention that S. H. Hashmi has already been awarded the Millennium Award and the life time achievement awards by APNS.
For his contribution in promotion of advertising he has won 22 awards. In addition he is member of 22 association / committee and councils and Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Advertising Association and Pakistan Outdoor and Media Advertiser Association, and President of National Council of Culture and Arts.
